Flat Fee MLS Realtor.com Listing Frequently Asked Questions
Who's telephone number will appear on the Realtor.com listing?Answer: If we made the rules for Realtor.com, your phone number would appear on Realtor.com. Unfortunately, Realtor.com strictly prohibits a seller's phone number or other contact information from appearing on the listing. Therefore, our brokerage contact information automatically appears to comply with Realtor.com rules. Many buyers will drive by your home and contact you directly if they are interested. Any buyers that contact us about your property will be given your phone number so they can contact you directly. Keep in mind that Realtor.com is different from the MLS listing, which will show your phone number on the listing.
Buyers will be able to contact you directly from your Realtor.com listing through our "secret recipe" Realtor.com listing method. The buyer doesn't need to call us or enter digits into a complicated voicemail system. We don't know of any other Ohio brokers who have figured out this method we invented years ago and has worked like a charm. If you would like to know more, contact us and we can explain and show examples.
Caution: Any website that says your phone number can appear on Realtor.com is inaccurate. For years we have offered a prize to anyone that finds a Realtor.com listing that shows a non-licensed seller's phone number (for more than a day or two), and no one has gotten the prize.
Do agents use Realtor.com to find homes for their buyers?
Answer: No. Agents use the MLS directly, which a password-protected website available only to licensed Ohio members of the MLS. It has three times more information about every property for sale, shows expired, sold, canceled listings, buyer agent commission amounts, and much more than Realtor.com.
Is Realtor.com the same as the Realtors MLS?
Answer: No. The Realtors MLS is available only to licensed members of the MLS. It has three times more information about every property for sale, shows expired, sold, canceled listings, buyer agent commission amounts, and much more than Realtor.com.
What is the difference between Realtor.com and the MLS?
Anyone can use Realtor.com or public websites, whereas the Realtors MLS is password protected and available only to member licensees. The MLS shows three times more information about a property, including:
- buyer agent commission offered,
- seller names or phone numbers,
- how long a listing has been on the market and whether it has been re-listed,
- expiration date for the listing,
- agent to agent remarks on a listing,
- history-full listings of all expired, canceled, pending, sold, temporarily unavailable, set to close listings,
- property disclosures
In order for a listing to appear on popular publicly available websites, it must be entered on the MLS.
Everything was handled professionally, I was pleased with the number of showings and how my home looked at Realtor.com. I would use this service again and have recommended it to other.
